My Printer Won't Connect to My Windows 10 PC
Posted by Tim Wert on
Has your printer suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason? It seems Microsoft has rolled out an update that makes printing to your Designjet difficult or impossible. Your PC may have installed this update automatically without your knowledge. Per Microsoft: "After installing this update, certain printers might fail to print. The print spooler might throw an error or close unexpectedly when attempting to print, and no output will come from the affected printer." This update can affect the Designjet 500, Designjet 800, Designjet T770, Designjet T1120, and other Designjet printers. The update in question is update KB4560960 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4560960/windows-10-update-kb4560960 To fix...
Printhead Replacement Incomplete on Designjet T and Z Printers
Posted by Tim Wert on
This problem occurs in the following Designjet models: T610, T620, T770, T790, T1100, T1120, T1200, T1300, T2300, Z2100, Z3100, Z3200, Z5200, Z5400. Your printer is in the middle of "preparing print system," and after 20 minutes of waiting, it displays the message "printhead replacement incomplete." You power the machine down, and back on, and it still tells you "printhead replacement incomplete." Very often, this is caused by insufficient ink supply. If you are using non-HP brand ink cartridges, install new HP cartridges. If any of the ink cartridges is below 40% full, replace that cartridge. If there are any pockets...

Designjet Rejecting Good Printheads, HP 70 | HP 72
Posted by Tim Wert on
This problem occurs in the following HP Designjet models: T610, T620, T770, T790, T1100, T1120, T1200, T1300, T2300, Z2100, Z3100, Z3200, Z5200, Z5400. If your printer is rejecting HP 70 printheads or HP 72 printheads, or if the printheads seem generally unreliable, there's a good chance there's nothing wrong with the printheads themselves. Often the contacts on the trailing cable corrode, and fail to send a consistent signal to and from the printheads. If you're on your second or third replacement printhead, and about ready to put some creatively-placed holes in the printer, power the machine off, and check the...

Designjet 1050C Ink Tube Priming Problem
Posted by Bob Wert on
We purchased the HP1050C ink tube replacement and are in the process of bringing the plotter back up. The system is not recognizing the set-up printheads and is only flashing a “insert printhead” message. We tried reseating the printheads but this is as far as we get. What should be looked at/redone/reviewed… to move forward? Wendy told me you have defective set-up print heads. We test all the set-up print heads before they are packaged, so I don’t think that is the problem. After the Designjet 1050C ink tube system is installed, the PRODUCTION print heads must be installed and...
