Designjet 1050C Ink Spraying
Posted by Bob Wert on
Hello. I work for a utility company and a few of our GIS employees are having trouble with an HP Designjet 1055CM. They use the 1055CM as a backup to an HP T7100 that has its own set of problems (mainly communication problems, not wanting to print sometimes). Please forgive me, as I am not as familiar with these plotters as some people. The main issue with the 1055CM is that the black ink keeps spraying in the area of the areas shown below; this has happened twice in the last few weeks. This is the part of the printhead...
Designjet 1050C Initializing Looping
Posted by Bob Wert on
The plotter started up fully, only after running its normal self-test in the beginning and then started printing. Otherwise it will get nearly all the way through the self test, and just continue in a loop, restarting and doing another self test, over and over and over. From my online research, it sounds like either the logic board or something worse. I really don’t want to spend the money on it having it serviced by a local technician, as it is an older plotter. Thoughts? Thanks, Matt Franks Since this is an intermittent problem and the plotter has a few...
Designjet 1050C Cyan ink leaking

Cyan is leaking hard from the carriage assembly. The ink is all over the paper, platen, service station and cartridges. The printer will be needing a major cleaning because of all the ink. I believe it is the ink tube system. Printheads and cartridges are over 10 years old but seems to be working okay. The cyan printhead was replaced but the problem remains. I will be needing your ink tube system. I don't think it is the cartridge assembly. What are your thoughts. The printer will be needing a major cleaning because of all the ink. Sorry to hear...
Designjet 1050C Black spots on print
Posted by Bob Wert on
MY 1050c started showing black ink spots on prints and I am seeing a lot of black ink leaking in the cleaner compartment. Would the ink tube kit be the fix for this problem? Are there other issues I should look for? I don’t want to just start throwing parts at it. Thanks for any insight you can provide. Allen Aubuchon There are seals between the print head ports and the tubes themselves that are made of synthetic rubber. They harden, crack and lead after a few years. Replacing the tube system will solve the problem. A note of caution… ...
Designjet 1050C Alarm, no Display
Posted by Bob Wert on
I have a 1055cm plus on power up it goes to audible alarm no display on led panel any ideas??? Thanks Marty The PCI bus on the main logic board is not relaying boot information from the ROM. The ROM may be missing, the memory may be missing, the JetDirect card may be holding the bus down, or the HDD may be holding it down. If the ROM and memory are present, remove the HDD and Jetdirect from the machine. If the problem persists, replace the logic board.
