If your machine is telling you "Open window and check printhead cover is properly closed," the most likely cause is the upper frame on the ink tube system is cracked or broken. The printhead cover on the carriage locks into the lower latch in the ink tube system. If the lower latch is compromised, the machine will not function.

It Works!!!

I have the same HP Designjet 500 from the time it was new in 2001. The parts and "how too" videos from LPS is what keeps my Designjet going. The Latch Repair 3D printed part is innovative and a perfect fit! The repair is completed without having to go through an extensive tear down and replacement of a part which would have broken again since the OEM plastic is thin for the latch pressure. An impressive time and money saving fix.
